Marketing today goes far beyond traditional advertising. In a fast-paced digital environment, organisations must understand how to use technology, data and strategy to connect with their audiences. This 13-week short course introduces you to the core principles of marketing, alongside a strong focus on digital transformation and emerging technologies.

This course is designed for learners from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who have studied business, engineering, digital technologies or other subjects. It’s also ideal for mature learners looking to develop new skills, progress their careers, or explore marketing as a new direction.

You will gain insight into marketing approaches and their application in contemporary organisations, including: 

  • The role of marketing and how it interrelates with other business units of an organisation  
  • Different ways in which organisations use elements of the marketing mix to achieve overall business objectives  
  • Marketing plans and how they support the achievement of marketing objectives  
  • Media plans to support a marketing campaign for an organisation.

You will also have opportunity to explore:

  • The digital business environment, emerging trends and contemporary approaches 
  • The effectiveness of the use of digital technologies to achieve business objectives 
  • Transformational digital strategy plans to support the implementation of digital technologies within an organisation  
  • A selected mobile application to support a digital strategy within an organisation 

Transferable skills are those such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis, which are highly valued in higher education and in the workplace. By the end of the course, you will have sound knowledge of the basic concepts of effective marketing.
