This course starts by looking at the underpinning principles of database design. You will learn about  

  • The use an appropriate design tool to design a relational database system for a substantial problem  
  • The development of a fully functional relational database system, based on an existing system design  
  • Testing systems against user and system requirements  
  • Producing technical and user documentation. 

You will also gain insight into data analytics more generally, including: 

  • The theoretical foundation of data analytics that determine decision making processes in management or business environments   
  • Descriptive analytic techniques to convert data into actionable insight using a range of statistical techniques   
  • Predictive analytic techniques to discover new knowledge for forecasting future events   
  • Prescriptive analytic methods for finding the best course of action for a situation.

Transferable skills are those such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis, which are highly valued in higher education and in the workplace. By the end of the course, you will have sound knowledge of the basic concepts of digital technology and cyber security
