Training in People Leadership or Digital Business

The Modular Acceleration Programme (MAP) is a government funded initiative aimed at anyone looking to retrain in a new career or upskill to enhance their existing career.

This is a targeted programme designed to support delivery of individual HTQ modules ready for the launch of the lifelong learning entitlement (LLE) in 2025. It encourages individuals to engage in learning through modules of Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQ) at Level 4 and above, such as a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND).

Learners do not need to pay back any tuition fees. However the funding accessed for MAP will reduce the amount remaining in a future Lifelong Learning Entitlementaccount. This is called the ‘residual entitlement’.

ACTIVATE LEARNING’S OFFER

Activate Learning has been awarded funding to provide two modules which are eligible for free funding under the programme. There are only a limited number of spaces available in:

People Leadership – this is a 30-credit module made up of two 15-credit units (Leadership & Management and The Management of Human Resources).

Digital Business – this is a 30-credit module made up of two 15-credit units (Contemporary Business and Digital Business in Practice).

As patron of the Surrey Chambers of Commerce, Activate Learning have chosen to offer these programmes exclusively to members of the Chambers.

The programmes will start in October and are delivered online over a 12-week period. Programmes will consist of ‘live’ workshops and seminars along with learning materials which you will be guided through and able to complete at a time convenient to you.

Why has the Modular Accelerated Programme been developed?

The UK government recognises the critical importance of skills development in the workplace.  A survey of UK employers revealed several insights:

  • Recruitment difficulties: Employers face challenges finding candidates with the required level of skills, particularly in professional occupations.
  • Skill gaps: Employers struggle to find both technical skills and soft skills (such as problem-solving and organizational abilities).
  • Strategic approach: Employers who take a strategic approach to skills development are better equipped to address current and future needs.
  • Line managers: Many employers believe their people managers need better training in developing staff.
  • Young people: Employers feel that young people are poorly prepared for work and advocate for closer collaboration between employers and the education system.
  • Further education: Employers’ awareness of the Government’s technical education reforms remains low.
  • Flexible training levy: There is broad support for reforming the Apprenticeship Levy into a more flexible training levy.

  • Benefits & Eligibility
  • Free tuition fees, with nothing for the student to pay – tuition fees will be paid for by a grant given directly to the education provider.
  • The opportunity to complete a module of a HTQ free of charge and without committing to the full course.
  • The ability to build credits towards a full HTQ.
